One of the busiest times of year in the studio is during the Valentine’s Day count down. It does seem slightly cruel that there’s barely anytime to shed off those extra pounds we’re carrying around from all of the holiday indulgences – but that’s why lighting, angles and Photoshop are our best friends.
If the post-holiday blues have got you feeling a little less jolly and a little more jelly, then follow these crucial steps in the days leading up to your photo shoot:
- Avoid any mirrors or reflective surfaces while naked. If it’s absolutely necessary (but is it ever?) to stand nude in front of one, wait until it’s dark and go old school with candles and/or the moon as your only source of light.
- Do not practice any posing that involves bending at your waist and then snapping a “practice” photo with your cell phone.
- Maintain at least 10 ft of distance between yourself and any fashion magazine.
- This may be obvious, but it cannot be stressed enough – do not go jean shopping or bathing suit shopping.
